making revisions

creating an upcycled collection was always something i saw as a natural evolution for otràvie.

as a creator in the fashion industry, the premise of using what we already have has always been my answer and the only way which i see that can truly move the industry forward. looking back to go forward-it’s part of the basis of the very philosophy that otràvie is grounded in. so when i approached my friend nora of Studio Ōsoi about working together on an upcycled collaboration, i knew it had to be grounded in values we could both see eye to eye on. a collection we could create together by visualizing something new from something that already existed. an opportunity to make a revision, together.

our collaboration took form with each piece being hand selected, a mindful curation that began with a color palette and a shared vision. a weekend sourcing trip to milan where we collected over 30 high quality vintage shirts, nora and i then combined our aesthetics and eye for detail to develop an authentic design language that we could translate into this selection of pre-loved garments. for the design inspiration, we leaned into the philosophy of Studio Ōsoi which is focused on the concept of luxury extending beyond high quality and sustainable materials by embodying a sense of comfort, ease and mindfulness in the experience of wearing clothing. we also pulled inspiration from a few special vintage pieces that i had sourced over the years.

we set out with the intention of each piece in our collection being unique - a limited edition series with no two styles being exactly alike. we aligned on three original design concepts and worked together to visualize how each design could suit each vintage shirt best. after countless hours of working together at the OURS studio, we were ready to send our pieces off to portugal where they would be transformed into new designs.

as we are a women lead project focused on transparent and ethical standards for fashion, we are proud that our collection has been crafted with great care and attention to every detail by a small-scale woman owned and operated production team in portugal. nora worked hand in hand with this team during her production visit last summer and was able to provide direct inputs with the team on our design brief, making the entire project in every step along the way entirely personal.

receiving the revised pieces back from the production was such a special moment. at this point, we were finally able to visualize our designs fully - seeing the integrity of each garment shining with a new life; each piece gained a new identity altogether.

as someone i admire in the industry for pushing sustainable values forward and fully embodying them through her work, it’s been such a fulfilling and wonderful experience working alongside nora to bring our vision to life. with countless hours of working together and many learnings along the way, i’m so grateful to share this project with her.

our collaboration collection “RE/ VISION” launches on may 24, 2025 with an exclusive launch event at OURS.
